Dover International Speedway hosts the world's fastest one-mile oval NASCAR race track known as the Monster Mile. During the spring and fall, two major NASCAR races culminate the end of week-long events that draw over a hundred thousand spectators and hundreds of fans camping in RV's near the race track. Race car sponsors, exhibitors and food vendors set up in behind the race track. While at Becker Morgan Group, Inc., Mr. Lane was tasked with developing concepts for a new formal entrance and plaza to present to the owner. Final concept included a metal archway over a wide entrance plaza with multicolored pavers, metal posts with racing banners, lights and loudspeakers lining the plaza and a sculptural focal point with winners plaques and the raceways icon, Miles the Monster. Mr. Lane coordinated and developed design development, construction and landscaping documents and collaborated with the fiberglass company that constructed and installed the Monster Monument.

This 10-acre parcel within the 58-acre Budd Complex was planned to be turned into a training and accounting department to make room for more patient rooms in a neighboring hospital. The landscape concept included defining the public edges and designing a private courtyard. The interior courtyard consists of a circular path and curvilinear edges around lushly planted sculpted mounds that define open spaces and smaller intimate spaces. Dining areas are integrated into the landscape and spaces within the courtyard are large enough for fundraising events and tents.

Located in Delmar next to an existing townhouse and apartment community, an expansion was being considered for more residential units and a new retail spaces. While at Becker Morgan Group, Inc., Mr. Lane was tasked with designing a layout for new apartment buildings, shopping center, food store and restaurant pads. Mr. Lane was project manager and was tasked with developing design documents conforming to zoning requirements showing buildings, parking, stormwater features and landscaping and presenting to the owner and Town of Delmar Town Council for approval.

A new building for this pharmaceutical company in Silver Spring, MD, highlighted a living BioWall in its lobby. Designed to filter the air of pollutants, this feature also provides an aesthetically pleasing counterpoint to the hard materials in the space. Mr. Lane was asked by EwingCole Architects to provide plant selection and layout for this interior vertical garden.

Located in Smyrna, DE, a diverse corporate office complex was planned near the Rt. 1 access ramp. While at Becker Morgan Group, Mr. Lane developed a planting layout for the 12 lot office park.

A new technology center consisting of 6 buildings forming an interior parking court was planned near the Delaware River. The proposed entrance design consists of formal plantings near the street and becomes informal near the court with mounds of low maintenance and low water using grasses and evergreen groundcovers near the court.
